Women's day
It was a day that Azizah Dun, Sabah minister of community development and consumer affairs, couldn't miss. It was Women's Day on March 8. And despite having an important appointment in her hometown of Beaufort, 80km (50 miles) from Kota Kinabalu, she celebrated the day with her leaders at Zara's Boutique Hotel in the state capital. The Magunatip is the Murut native dance performed at social occasions and often to honour distinguished guests. This cheerful and exciting dance is complemented with music played with the small sansaring gong and the jarang drum with the clapping of the bamboo. Dancers need to have a good sense of timing and agility as they need to avoid the clapping bamboos. -- Picture By Victor Lo
