Homeless animals in Sabah
I would like to draw the authorities' attention to the increasing number of homeless animals in Sabah, especially cats and dogs which are sometimes dumped mercilessly in garbage bins. They are very pitiful and I would really, really appreciate if the government will step in to help. Perhaps a team to neuter them, to nurse those which are really, really sick and even provide allocation to feed them.
They are often tortured and run over heartlessly by cars. I have seen many dogs with tails chopped off just for the fun of it, I guess. One dog had its tail chopped off twice. So heartbreaking. Some have wires wringed around their necks and bodies until the skin is bloody. But not dead, still left living miserably and of course everyone knows about those scalded with hot water by merciless humans. NGOs such as SPCA are struggling and most of the time unable to cater to all the needy dogs though I know they are trying their best. I hope the government will think about this seriously. Not only is the sight of these homeless animals bad for the image of Sabah, tourists (especially those from the west where dogs live better lives) are appalled that such strays even exist. They say there are no such things in their countries. So for the sake of Sabah, for the sake of these poor animals, I hope you will convey my thoughts and wishes to the powers that be. Thank you so much, really appreciate.
Sincerely,
Josephine Tay
