A glut of defective buildings in Kota Kinabalu Edit this Letter

Sir,

I refer to your article, 'Little to cheer, a lot to worry' and I would like to add my comments. I am one of those foreigners who have bought a house in Kota Kinabalu and made Malaysia my second home. And I can't agree more with you about the poor quality of building.

For the last few years, my house which I bought brand new has never ceased to give me trouble. Deep cracks in the beams, pillars, walls, ceilings and floors keep appearing. No sooner have I repaired the cracks in my living room when cracks would appear in the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc. I have given up repairing it. I want to sell it but I can't find buyers.

Certainly, there is a glut of defective buildings in Kota kinabalu. I hope the authorities will do something about this sorry state of the Sabah building industry and bring the errant developers and contractors to book. Like the architect Mr Ho says, Shareda should stop kidding itself.
