Rebekah Brooks, the chief executive of Rupert Murdoch's News International has been arrested after she quit her job on a reported severance package of £8.5m (42.5m ringgit) as Sir Paul Stephenson, 57, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, known as the Met or Scotland Yard, resigned from his job.

The fallout from the now defunct News of the World phone hacking scandal continues. The latest Murdoch's top executive to resign is Les Hinton, chief executive of Dow Jones & Co. which owns the Wall Street Journal. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation owns Dow Jones.

News of the World is dead
The decision is shocking but it makes sense. The News of the World, Britain's best selling Sunday newspaper, will close after a 168-year run. This Sunday's edition will be its last as Rupert Murdoch who owns it tries to nip an escalating phone hacking scandal. The paper journalists have allegedly hacked into voicemail and text messages of thousands of people, including child murder victims, British royalties and families of soldiers who died in wars.
