地球一小時活動強調綠色世界的重要性

亞庇市在3月26日當晚首次全市陷入黑暗長達一小時。準確點應該説是全市約500盞街燈在當晚的8時30分至9時30分首次熄燈一小時。這也是亞庇市政廳參與“地球一小時”熄燈運動,對抗全球暖化所展現的誠意與決心。馬希迪曼俊同樣也在黑暗中摸黑先後驅車前往絲綢港灣酒店和凱悅酒店主持兩処的“地球一小時”熄燈運動。
聯合國秘書長潘基文的“地球一小時”信息也非常明確。“讓我們利用60分鐘的黑暗來幫助世界重啓光明,”他說。
事實的確如此。我們的生活不能缺乏光和電源,沙巴的人民也證實了這一點。據沙巴電力有限公司執行總裁巴哈林丁披露,沙巴人民在今年的“地球一小時”運動僅節省了約20兆瓦的電力,大約是8000令吉(約2614美元)的電費而已。今年的活動所省下的電源不僅比去年少10兆瓦,更較2009年沙巴首次參與該活動所省下的電源還要少30兆瓦。

“在活動中所省下的電源其實並非這項活動的全部,”“地球一小時” 運動聯合創辦人和執行主任安迪雷德利在2007年於悉尼首次推廣這項運動的如是表示。
環保分子表示,現在最需要的是生産綠色能量來降低全球暖化效應。目前全球對於暖化效應的關注,逼使人民改變原有的生活習慣與方式。舉辦單位表示,全球135個國家5000個城市共5億人參與今年的活動,這證明了人們開始改變。
“我們其實都忽略了真正的焦點和意義,”旅遊、文化與環境部長馬希迪說道。“地球一小時活動真正的信息是要我們改變我們的生活方式。”他說事實上亞庇市政廳參與這項活動,證明沙巴州政府極重視全球氣候轉變的問題。
沙巴州政府已把400萬公頃,佔北婆羅州逾一半面積的原始森林劃入保護森林,作爲保育用途。州政府此擧贏得英國皇家協會的讚揚。最近,馬來西亞政府也取消了在沙巴州興建13億令吉的燃煤發電廠,以保護當地的森林、野生動物與海洋生態。
