BR1M 2.0 rolls out in Putatan

500 of successful 1Malaysia People's Assistance (BR1M) applicants gathered to collect their RM500 cash voucher at the Multipurpose Hall Putatan, today.

The disbursement of the 1Malaysia People’s Assistance (BR1M) 2.0 started in February 2013 nationwide that involved an allocation of RM3 billion. The initiative was expected to benefit 4.3 million households and 2.7 million single unmarried individuals aged 21 and above.

In the Putatan parliamentary constituency, at least 7, 500 applicants have received the aids out of 16, 996 successful applicants.

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin who is there to distribute the aid said that government strives to help and eased the people's burden.

"Our goal is to ensure that the people's welfare are taken care of...the government will always try and find a way to help the people to have a better and quality living standard," he said.

Yahya said that government has implemented and planned a wide range of policies and programmes to attract more investors to invest in Malaysia.

He also urged the people who have yet to apply for the aid to do so as the application is still open for them.

The application forms for the RM500 1Malaysia People’s Assistance (BR1M) 2.0 schemes have to be submitted no later than 15 March 2013.

For Emily Bozou, 29, she is relieved to receive the assistance from the government.

"I am a housewife with a five month old baby. My husband is a sales marketing executive with a salary barely enough to make ends meet. So this money is a big help," she said.

Rusnah AmitGrateful for the help Rusnah Amit, 52, a single mother said, "I am very grateful to the government."

She said that she would use the money for her son who is taking his Diploma In Business in UiTM Sabah.

"As a seamstress, I don't have a fixed income so this money  will truly help to lessen the burden of a low income person like me," she said. - Insight Sabah
