Najib overwhelms Tuaran folks with programmes

Transformation or reformation? That was the question asked by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to the people of Tuaran during his speech at the launching of the Nadi Kasih Programme in Tuaran, yesterday.
Najib said that the national transformation efforts in the form of the Government Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme and other government initiatives are recognised by the world.
“The transformation programme is an established effort that seeks to propel Malaysia towards a developed nation status.
“Malaysia is recognized by many world leaders and international experts as having the ability to assist its people through such aid schemes as BR1M 1.0 and 2.0,” he said adding that BR1M 3.0 will be continued next year.
Najib also stated that if the people of Sabah continue to support the state and federal governments, they would not only continue to enjoy the existing benefits from development but would also receive more in the future.
“Sabah is not just any fixed deposit, but one that will benefit the people. If it is not enough we will add more…we just need a mandate from the people,” he said.
He also said that the people of Sabah should reject reformation as it only created problems for the public with the opposition's vague agenda and promises.
Later, Najib announced an allocation of RM32.5 million to upgrade the 14km Kampung Topokon to Kampung Wangkod Gontung road used by more than 3, 000 residents in the area. The upgrading work will start soon.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Minister of Local Housing and Government Datuk Hajiji Noor commended Najib on his efforts to put the people first in his national policies.
"Ever since he assumed office, the Prime Minister has launched many programmes and policies that have benefited the country and united its people regardless of race and religion,” Hajiji said.
He told the people that the Tuaran district will benefit from the Prime Minister’s transformation programmes in many ways.
Hajiji then cited a few examples, such as the RM1.2 million allocated for 2,000 school bags, uniforms, shoes, and stationeries for school children, kitchen supplies and vitamins for 600 families, 200 bicycles for youths, 40 units of wheelchairs for disabled people, health checks and medication for 2,000 people, as well as eye check-up for 1,500 people.
