SMK Tansau students received RM100 cash assistance

1,911 students of SMK Tansau, Putatan received their RM100 cash assistance from the Federal Government today.
The cash assistance amounting to RM540 million was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the Budget 2013 tabled last year. All students from Form one to Form 5 are eligible to receive the RM100.00 grant.
The Early School Special Assistance was introduced in late 2011 and this is the second time the cash distributions are carried out.
Like everybody else in her Form 5 class Jessey Chai Yee Wei, was elated to receive the money. She said she would make good use of the money given to her.
“This year I am taking my SPM examination so the RM100 is timely as I am going to use it to buy reference books in preparing for my exam,” she said.
Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin, who was there to distribute the Early School Special Assistance, advised students to make good use of the cash aid.
“Education is important in life. In the old days people were illiterate because it was hard to get education. But today it is accessible to all.
“This is because we have a responsible government that listens and cares for the people,” he said.
Yahya also took the opportunity to announce that he will contribute 1,000 chairs to SMK Tansau Putatan. –Insight Sabah
