Fix the Papar Bridge - Rahim Ismail pleads

The State Assemblyman of Pantai Manis, Papar, Abdul Rahim Ismail added his words to the outpouring of support for the State Budget 2013 during the debate of State Budget 2013, and delivered a sidekick at the opposition's alternative budget, which he said was unrealistic.
Touching on the federal government's decision to build a coastal road connecting Tuaran, Kota Marudu and Kudat, Rahim said the proposed road will be a catalyst for the development of these areas.
He then made an impassioned appeal to the government to "fix" the Papar bridge that carries a very heavy overland traffic on the main route connecting Beaufort, Sipitang and Keningau, with Kota Kinabalu and beyond. This road is also used by motorists from Sarawak and Brunei. Abdul Rahim urged the Government to look into this matter.
He told the Dewan that he was gravely concerned that the heavy traffic on the highway has added more strain on the old Papar Bridge, which has further aggravated the traffic congestion.
The Pantai Manis Assemblyman also suggested that the Federal and State Governments should consider choosing Papar as one of the locations for the building of the 1Malaysia Public Housing project (PR1MA). -Insight Sabah
