Optimisme di Sabah walau kemelesetan global meruncing

Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Musa Aman dengan riangnya memukul dram ketika melancarkan festival tarian naga, singa dan unicorn di Padang Merdeka di Kota Kinabalu pada 14 Januari sekaligus mengisytiharkan tahun baru Cina yang aman dan makmur bagi Sabah. Beliau penuh optimis ketika naga mistikal ini memasuki kalendar lunar pada 23 Januari walaupun kemelesetan memuncak di negara-negara kaya. Beliau ada sebabnya: kerajaannya membelanjakan jumlah RM4 bilion untuk melaksanakan pelbagai projek pembangunan sosial ekonomi ketika negeri yang kaya dengan pelbagai sumber ini berlumba untuk sejajar dengan 13 lagi negeri dalam persekutuan Malaysia untuk mengubahnya menjadi negara berpendapatan tinggi dalam tempoh lapan tahun.
Tahun ini sebanyak 90 pasukan tarian Cina mengambil bahagian dalam festival yang menarik perhatian kira-kira 4,000 orang. Kerajaan Sabah menderma 100 kepala singa dan unicorn kepada persatuan Cina yang akan datang melawat dari rumah ke rumah membawa keceriaan tahun baru kepada orang ramai.
Musa berkata, beliau tahu simbol kemakmuran dan kegembiraan yang dibawa naga dan berharap "tahun 2012 akan membawa lebih banyak keamanan, keharmonian, kejayaan dan kemajuan kepada semua kita."

Acara kemuncak festival tarian itu ialah naga sepanjang 87 meter milik pasukan tarian Kolombong. Kepalanya saja seberat 25kg. Ketua pasukan Alvin Yee Kuan Fatt, 29, berkata 39 penari diperlukan untuk membawanya.
Semalam, Musa melancarkan karnival empat hari tahun baru Cina di Jalan Gaya.
Musa berkata, sokongan kerajaannya terhadap kebudayaan etnik tidak berlaku sebelum ini. Kerajaannya mendermakan kira-kira RM30 juta untuk menyokong kegiatan pelbagai kebudayaan dan badan-badan agama.
"Kebanyakan anda tahu bahawa kerajaan sebelum ini hanya mampu memperuntukkan satu atau dua juta ringgit saja," katanya.
Pengurusan berjimat cermat kewangan membenarkan kerajaan Sabah untuk lebih bermurah hati memberi derma. Ia ada rizab sebanyak RM23.2 bilion. – Insight Sabah
