  • Facing up to lending challenges (Updated)

Even though Sabah is sheltered from the world recession, local lenders haven’t had it easy. Competition for borrowers is fierce as banks and lending companies drop interest rates to woo them. The Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC), the state government lending arm, has stood up to the challenge. It is paying the government a 13m-ringgit ($4m) gross dividend after chalking a 41.4m-ringgit pre-audit profit last year that is one-tenth more than in 2008.
