10,000 skilled wood workers needed yearly

After nine months of training in timber processing and finishing technology, Harman bin Kasau, 22, is now one of the 10,000 skilled workers that the Malaysian wood industry needs every year. Employment for him is assured and he stands to earn a fresh university graduate salary of about 1,500 ringgit a month. But Harman, who comes from Kampung Tinosa 2 in Sandakan, plans to join the National Youth Skill Institute to study timber-related interior designing.
