Bringing wealth to the rural poor

Since becoming Sabah’s rural development minister last year, Ewon Ebin has been criss-crossing the impoverished areas of the state to make sure that villagers are helped to live well. The government has been spending millions of ringgit on “agropolitan” projects to help about 5,000 very poor villagers to farm land with cash crops and rear cattle to get out of poverty. But, ironically, it has not been easy because of opposition from some villagers.
